Frozen Fish Guide
Quantities required per person are the same
as fresh fish or fresh meat. If the fish is filleted use 200 gms per adult
as a guide.
Please note: Our frozen fish are already
cut, portioned and vacuum packed - usually from fresh fish. We do not defrost,
cut and re-freeze fish. We try to keep stock in a variety of packaging sizes
from 200 gm - 500 gm. Depending on the type of fish we may also have larger
frozen sides of fish such as salmon, barramundi, ocean trout etc. Please
do not request that frozen fish be cut into 100 gm portions. As just
stated we do not defrost, recut, repack and refreeze frozen fish. We offer
select species in 100 gm packing sizes and sell these as fish 'For Babies'.
These packs may be made up of one or more small pieces and are generally not
suited to a single adult portion - Not even a very small adult portion. Baby
packs are skinless, boneless pieces of fish specially chosen as they come from
small fish and exceptionally clean waters. We assume these are being served to
very small children or are being mashed up to make baby food. Athough
we attempt to meet specific requests regarding packaging and portion size, this
is not always possible. We don't have unlimited quantities of frozen fish and
our selection is limited to what we have on hand at the time of ordering. A
person wanting 2 x 150 gm pieces may have to take one 300 gm piece. It is
also impossible to give one piece of 600 gm gurnard fillet when gurnard fillets
are only 100 - 150 gms to begin with. If
you have specific requests regarding portion sizes or the quantity packed per
package, may I suggest you order this fresh and freeze it. We have much
greater control when it comes to cutting a packaging fresh fish. We
keep limited stock of whole frozen fish such as Snapper, Flounder, Sole, Rainbow
Trout and Baby Barramundi. The weight of each piece varies. We attempt to
estimate the average size of these fish and the cost however there can be a
considerable varience from piece to piece.
